Togah boys and Daniel

The Ghana Education Fund provides scholarships to junior and senior high school and university students from villages in rural Ghana, West Africa. These children are orphans or disenfranchised youth from broken, scattered families that cannot provide their school fees. Without this support many of these children stay in the village to farm, take care of livestock, younger siblings and in the case of girls, are married off instead of attending school. This scholarship has been supporting children in the Talensi area since 2006.

St Joe 2015 students

  • In 2014/2015, 30 students received scholarships for junior and senior high school.
  • 2 students received scholarships for university in Ghana.

Our Mission is to provide education assistance for the poorest, neediest and most deserving girls and boys from subsistence communities in Ghana.

Each year, I travel to Ghana with scholarship funds raised in the U.S. I personally meet students, parents, teachers headmasters and community elders to determine if a child will continue to be awarded a scholarship for the coming school year and to assess new children in need.

100% of ALL donations are used to educate a child.

We have no overhead, staff or administration fees to pay. I fee that it is important for you the donor to know that your contributions are getting to the children.

In 2001, as a Peace Corps volunteer, I began teaching in the Gbeogo School for the Deaf. Through that experience, I fell in love with the people of Ghana and the beautiful Talensi district near the border of Burkina Faso. I consider this collection of villages my second home. Being a teacher, I saw how much these children valued an education and the opportunity to attend school.  I also saw how little in dollars it takes to see a child through a year in school with a uniform, school supplies and school fees.cropped Thelma and grandma

Donate to this ongoing fund to give these children an education and a future.
