Book & Laptop Drive
This winter, we are donating some specific items to our newly built study center and library as well as to our partner school in Northern Ghana, St. Joseph’s, Primary and Junior Secondary School.
We are collecting quality books for young people, through high school age. These will fill the shelves of the new library in conjunction with the purchase of country-specific books and learning materials. Our goal is 1,000 books by April 1st.
We are also collecting used PC laptops to donate to the study center, the school, to students and deserving individuals to assist them in their quest to move their lives forward and follow their dreams.
If you have a laptop or books that you would like to donate, contact us. If you are in San Diego, CA or Portland, OR area, we can arrange a pickup.
The value of your donation is tax deductible through our 501(c)(3) and you will receive a receipt.
In 2011, we were proud to be able to raise the funds to create a computer lab for the JSS (middle school) students, as well as the renovation of five primary school classrooms, including painting, floor repairs and the installation of desks in each room. We were able to offer a few scholarships as well.
We have partnered with this school because of its evident needs, and because of the positive relationship that we have with the staff and community surrounding. We would like to continue our quest of creating this school into a model school for the area. We consult closely with the mothers and fathers as well as staff and student body before we decide how to move forward with our assistance projects.
Speaking of scholarships, high school is a different entity altogether; one that requires students to pass difficult tests, pay money their families do not always have, and often to leave home and board at the school. One of our goals is to be able to provide as many $400 scholarships as we are able to raise to help promising children pay their way through high school. We’ll post about the scholarship fundraiser, soon.
